SYMPTOMSThe Repair Component button in the Systems Management Server Control Panel applet fails to repair Systems Management Server Remote Control Tools after a third party tool has been removed. CAUSEIf third party Remote Tools are detected during client installation, client installation sets Systems Management Server Remote Tools registry entries to Not Available. The Systems Management Server control panel applet cannot Repair Components marked Not Available. WORKAROUNDIMPORTANT: This article contains information about editing the registry.
Before you edit the registry, make sure you understand how to restore it if
a problem occurs. For information about how to do this, view the "Restoring
the Registry" Help topic in Regedit.exe or the "Restoring a Registry Key" Help
topic in Regedt32.exe.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Systems Management Server version 2.0. This problem has been corrected in the
latest U.S. service pack for Systems Management Server version 2.0. For information on obtaining the service pack, query on the
