SMS: Packages Are Advertised to the Wrong Collections

• Microsoft Systems Management Server version 2.0

SYMPTOMS

In Systems Management Server 2.0, a package that is advertised to one collection may be incorrectly offered to a different collection. This problem occurs on secondary sites only.

CAUSE

Offer Manager modifies the wrong .col file to contain the advertisement ID. As a result, the .ins and .ofr files are modified to point to the wrong collection.

WORKAROUND

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Systems Management Server 2.0. This problem was first corrected in Systems Management Server 2.0 Service Pack Service Pack 1.
