While performing Network Discovery, computers on slow links are not discovered.
The machines can be reached by Ping.CAUSENetwork Discovery will Ping a computer, and then attempt communication with other protocols. This can increase network traffic, resulting in time-outs of other ICMP requests. RESOLUTIONSTATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Systems Management Server version 2.0. This problem has been corrected in the
latest U.S. service pack for Systems Management Server version 2.0. For information on obtaining the service pack, query on the
