New Event IDs for SNA Server Print Service

SYMPTOMS

There is no way to know if the printer is out of paper or if the printer is offline.

RESOLUTION

There are two new events logged in the Windows NT Application Event log for SNA Server Print Service:

Event ID 3
Severity=Warning
The NT Print Spooler has reported an error on printer %1.%n

Event ID 4
Severity=Warning
The NT Print Spooler has reported that printer %1 is out of paper.%n

To resolve this problem, obtain the hotfix mentioned below.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SNA Server version 3.0. This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft SNA Server 3.0 U.S. Service Pack. For information on obtaining the service pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
