FIX: Temporary Tables Not Dropped When Tempdb Is Full

SYMPTOMS

When tempdb becomes full, any temporary tables that are created will not get dropped when the transaction finishes.


CAUSE

SQL Server does not release the temporary tables correctly when tempdb is full.


WORKAROUND

Restart the SQL Server; this will clean up the temporary tables.


STATUS

This problem was corrected in version 6.0.
