BUG: Config. Guide for SQL Monitor Registry Entries Incorrect
ID: Q116056
|
The information in this article applies to:
-
Microsoft SQL Server version 4.2x
BUG# 10039 (4.2)
SYMPTOMS
The SQL Server for Windows NT "Configuration Guide" incorrectly documents
some default parameters data types or incorrectly states the purpose of
certain listed Windows NT Registry entries used by SQL Monitor. The SQL
Monitor registry entries are found in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SQLServer\SQLMonitor\Parameters
WORKAROUND
The following is a list of corrections to the registry entries documented
in the SQL Server for Windows NT "Configuration Guide" (pages 132-133):
- BackupTime - This entry is listed as a string representation of a
decimal value, not a hexadecimal value. The default is initially
set to 15 minutes.
- Logsize - The packet size (from 10-30270) for each packet transferred
from SQL Monitor to SQL Administrator. Setting this value has no
effect on the number of entries in MSscheduled_backups_log. The
default value is 4096, and this entry corresponds to the SQL Monitor
/logsize startup option.
- MonitorTableSize - This entry is listed as a string representation
of a decimal value, not a hexadecimal value.
- MonitorTime - This entry is listed as a string representation of
a decimal value, not a hexadecimal value. The default is incorrectly
listed as 1. The default is initially set to 60 seconds.
- SqlTimeout - This entry is listed as a string representation of a
decimal value, not a hexadecimal value. The default value is listed
as 60. The default is initially set to 360 seconds, and this entry
corresponds to the SQL Monitor /sqltimeout startup option.
