SUMMARY

Due to a problem in the Microsoft Windows NT version 3.5 RDR.SYS, a Windows NT version 3.5 client may experience hung network sessions and unreliable network input/output (I/O) when communicating to SQL Server over named pipes.

There is an updated version of RDR.SYS available that addresses this issue. It can be obtained through any of the following sources:

  • Via the Microsoft SNA Server version 2.1 CD. The README.TXT file included with the CD describes how to install the updated version in detail.
