BUG: SQL Admin. Displays Partial DB List if rowcount Is Active

ID: Q124061

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft SQL Server versions 4.2, 4.2b

SYMPTOMS

The Manage/Change Database... menu item of the SQL Administrator query window will only display a partial list of databases if a set rowcount command is active.

If you have issued a set rowcount command in a query window and when you click the Manage/Change Database... menu item, the number of databases listed will not exceed the rowcount limit.

For example, if a user executes,

   set rowcount 2
Then only two databases will be listed in the Manage/Change Databases... list of databases.

NOTE: This only affects the list of databases from the Manage/Change Database... menu item used to change the focus of the query window. Issuing set rowcount in the query window does not affect the other windows, such as the devices, databases, logins, remotes, or system windows.

WORKAROUND

Reset the rowcount to a number sufficient to list the databases, or change the focus of the query window with a use command:

   use pubs
   go
