BUG# NT: 11016 (6.00) SYMPTOMS
The Setup program ends with an error indicating that "DISK commands must be
run from the master database," and the upgrade does not complete if the
sa's default database is not master.
CAUSEUpgrading to Microsoft SQL Server version 6.0 may fail if the default database for "SA" is not the master database. WORKAROUND
Use the SQL Server version 6.0 Setup program to rebuild the registry:
Choose the "New Install" option and give the paths to the current files. After the registry rebuild completes, start SQL Server normally, log in, and change the sa's default database back to master with this command:
Then, shutdown SQL Server and rerun Setup choosing the "Upgrade" option. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server version 6.0 This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 3 for Microsoft SQL Server version 6.0.
