BUG: Extraneous "go" Commands in Grouped Stored Proc Scripts

ID: Q139190

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft SQL Server version 6.0

SYMPTOMS

The SQL Enterprise Manager (SEM) will include extraneous "go" statements in the generated script of a grouped stored procedure. The text for the first stored procedure in the group is generated correctly, but subsequent stored procedures in the group may contain unwanted "go" statements occurring approximately every 255 characters.

WORKAROUND

Use sp_helptext to generate the stored procedure creation script and follow with a manual edit. A second option is to use the Generate SQL Scripts option and manually edit out the extra "go" statements.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server version 6.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
