BUG: DBO Cannot Run DBCC Newalloc Command

SYMPTOMS

Page 132 of the Transact-SQL Reference book says that the database owner (DBO) can run the DBCC newalloc command. However, the DBO cannot run DBCC newalloc.

WORKAROUND

The system administrator (SA) can run the DBCC newalloc command or, alternately, the DBO can use the DBCC checkalloc command.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server versions 6.0 and 6.5. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
