SYMPTOMSWhen starting the Symmetric Virtual Server (SVS) in Cluster Administrator, the resource will not report a state of Online, but will instead continually restart and get stuck in the Online Pending state. CAUSEThe SQL Server Resource DLL reports the state of the SVS. To do so, it must connect to the SVS over the default Named Pipe of \\.\pipe\sql\query. WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, change the SVS to make sure that it listens to
the default Named Pipe. To do this, perform the steps in the WORKAROUND
section of the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Additional query words: pipes
