BUG: BCP: CONTROL+C or CONTROL+Break May Not Stop BCP Out

ID: Q196908

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft SQL Server version 7.0

BUG #: 53118 (SQLBUG_70)

SYMPTOMS

Using a CONTROL+C or CONTROL+Break keystroke combination to stop the Bcp.exe utility may not actually stop the command. This behavior is only observed if you issue the CONTROL+C or CONTROL+Break sequence on the line "Do you want to save this format information in a file? [Y/n]". In some cases, a message is returned indicating that the bulk copy is aborted, but the bulk copy continues.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server version 7.0.
