BUG: Incomplete Display of Some System Roles

ID: Q203824

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft SQL Server version 7.0

BUG #: 52217 (SQLBUG_70)

SYMPTOMS

Some of the permissions such as BULK INSERT, RESTORE DATABASE, RESTORE LOG, DBCC SHRINKDATABASE, and DBCC SHRINKFILE are missing from the system administrator role description when you view it in SQL Enterprise Manager or when you use the sp_srvrolepermission stored procedure.

This is only an information display issue. The system administrator does have these permissions, but they are not displayed.

Similarly, permissions such as RESTORE DATABASE and RESTORE LOG are missing from the database creator role description, although they also possess these permissions.

WORKAROUND

Contact Microsoft Product Support Services if the display of this information is important to you.
