FIX: SELECT INTO Does Not Return Statistics IO Information

SYMPTOMS

With Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 Service Packs 3 or 4 installed, SELECT INTO will not return statistics IO information.


WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, start SQL Server with trace flag -T5302.

To add trace flag 5302 as a SQL Server startup parameter, perform the following steps:

  1. In SQL Enterprise Manager, right-click the server name click Configure on the shortcut menu.


  2. On the Server Options tab, click Parameters.


  3. Add a new parameter as -T5302.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server version 6.5. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 5a for Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5. For information about downloading and installing the latest SQL Server Service Pack, see http://support.microsoft.com/support/sql/.
