BUG #: 53994 (SQLBUG_70) SYMPTOMSWhen working with Merge publications, which have Dynamic Filtering, the initial synchronization takes a long time to complete. This is because of the need to generate metadata for all rows at snapshot time, trying to eliminate the rows that will not be sent to this subscriber. This results in protracted initial sync times for large tables even though the subscriber receives only a small subset of the data. The problem does not occur if no horizontal (rows) filtering is involved. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server
version 7.0. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack SP1
for Microsoft SQL Server version 7.0. For information about
downloading and installing the latest SQL Server Service Pack, see
