FIX: Adding Merge Subscription Fails with Error 8115

SYMPTOMS

The following errors might be seen when creating merge subscriptions:

Server: Msg 8115, Level 16, State 2, Line 0
Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type nvarchar.

Server: Msg 515, Level 16, State 2, Procedure sp_add_job, Line 102
Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'name', table 'msdb.dbo.sysjobs'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails.

Server: Msg 14057, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_addmergesubscription, Line 545
The subscription could not be created.
The statement has been terminated.
When the next identity value for MSmerge_agents is greater than 999 sp_addmergesubscription fails.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server version 7.0. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 1 for Microsoft SQL Server version 7.0. For information about downloading and installing the latest SQL Server Service Pack, see http://support.microsoft.com/support/sql/.
