BUG #: 18697, 18710 (SQLBUG_65) SYMPTOMSUnder high tempdb stress with deadlocking on system tables and attention signals (due to query timeouts or cancellations) you may receive access violations (AVs) or errors of type 603 or 803. These problems do not occur on SQL Server 6.5 versions earlier than SQL Server 6.5 Service Pack 5 and 5a. RESOLUTIONA supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but
it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems
experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this
specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next SQL Server service pack
