ID: Q244980

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft SQL Server, Enterprise Edition, versions 6.5, 7.0
  • Microsoft Windows NT Server, Enterprise Edition versions 4.0, 4.0 SP4, 4.0 SP5
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server
  • Microsoft Cluster Server

SUMMARY

If circumstances require that you change the IP address of your existing clustered SQL Server, we recommend that you uncluster SQL Server using the SQL Cluster Wizard, choosing to remove the Virtual Server. Then re-cluster SQL Server using the SQL Cluster Wizard exactly as you originally did except that you replace the old IP address with the new IP address.

NOTE: Your SQL server will be offline and unavailable until this is complete.

If you will be changing any other IP addresses in the cluster and/or changing the Domain in which the cluster resides, complete this prior to re-clustering SQL Server.
