BUG: Access Violation in kill_proc During Per Server Licensing Cleanup May Cause Server Hang

SYMPTOMS

If an exception such as an access violation (AV) is encountered in the routine kill_proc(), during the processing of per server licensing cleanup, the license access critical section is not released, which may cause SQL Server to hang.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server version 7.0.
