Compaq SCSI II Adapter Returns Incorrect Partition Sizes
ID: Q122312
|
The information in this article applies to:
-
Microsoft LAN Manager, version 2.2
SYMPTOMS
When you use a Compaq SCSI II adapter with a Compaq Flash ROM version
earlier than 2.09, an incorrect partition size returns to OS/2, MS-DOS, or
Windows File Manager.
When you check the partition size from an OS/2 command prompt and then from
an MS-DOS workstation, the sizes reported are significantly different. When
you check the partition size from within the OS/2 Disk Manager, a third,
typically very different, partition size is reported.
RESOLUTION
Run the Compaq Inspect diagnostics program to determine the current ROM
version for the system and the SCSI II adapter. If the SCSI II adapter ROM
version is earlier than 2.09, contact Compaq for the correct file to
download from their BBS to update the Flash ROM on this adapter. The
current version is 2.12d.
After you update the Flash ROM version, the partition must be deleted,
recreated, and reformatted for the correct size to be reported.
NOTE: A small discrepancy may exist between the partition size reported by
OS/2 and MS-DOS even after the update, but the discrepancies are much more
negligible.
