LAN Manager 2.2B Reports NET3190 Errors

SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft LAN Manager error log contains:

WORKSTATION 3190
NET3190: A NetWksta internal error has occurred:
NCBDone: msg incomplete in Redir NCB!
06 00

You may also see NET3194 network hang-up messages or namepipe connection failures.

CAUSE

The redirector server_list linked list is corrupted or there is a corrupt pointer in the linked list manipulation.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in LAN Manager 2.2b. A fix to this problem is in development, but has not been regression-tested and may be destabilizing in production environments. Microsoft does not recommend implementing this fix at this time. Contact Microsoft Product Support Services for more information on the availability of this fix.
