LM 2.2c Real-mode TCP/IP Cannot Reconnect After Autodisconnect

SYMPTOMS

When a resource connection to a Windows NT server is Autodisconnected by the server, it may not be possible to reconnect to the server, if the connection was made using the LAN Manager version 2.2c Real-mode TCP/IP stack.


CAUSE

There is a problem in the Real-mode redirector.


RESOLUTION

Set Autodisconnect to a large value on the server to reduce the frequency of autodisconnection, or apply the associated hotfix to the workstation.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in LAN Manager version 2.2c for MS-DOS. A fix to this problem is in development, but has not been regression-tested and may be destabilizing in production environments. Microsoft does not recommend implementing this fix at this time.
