SYMPTOMS

You may encounter stack corruption or an access violation if you write a component that has a custom interface that passes arguments of type float or double.

CAUSE

The Microsoft Interface Definition Language (MIDL) compiler does not generate full functions for the proxy and stub for some methods if they have a float or double argument.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in MIDL. This problem has been corrected and the newer version of MIDL is included in Microsoft Transaction Server version 1.1.

NOTE: This problem has been fixed in MIDL version 3.01.75
