Page 242 of the Microsoft FORTRAN version 5.0 and 5.1 Reference Manual and page 19 of the Microsoft FORTRAN version 5.0 Quick Reference Guide state that the PRECISION intrinsic function returns the same data type as that of its argument.

The return type for the PRECISION intrinsic function is INTEGER.
