Problem with Printing Files Larger than 25mb

ID: Q99193

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft LAN Manager, version 2.1

SUMMARY

Print files larger than 25 MB can sometimes cause the server, OS/2 and LAN Manager to hang, resulting in some output printed correctly but the rest being jumbled.

This can be caused by a conflict between two SCSI controller settings. For the optical drive and SCSI drives from Storage Dimension (Optical drive model # TMT2, 500 MB on each side) change the default settings:

BASE IO address: default 330h--change to 134h.
IRQ: default 10--change to 11.
DEVICE ID: default qdc00h--change to qd8000h
SCSI ID: default 2--change to 3
PARITY off
SYNCH diabled

ADAPTIC 154x series BASE IO ADDRESS is C000H and SCSI ID is 7.
NOTE: In one case, these changes made it possible to print graphic files as large as 103 MB.
