The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSAfter you install Microsoft OS/2 1.3 on a Microsoft LAN Manager 2.2 server you are prompted to reboot the computer. When it starts again a prompt asks if you want to continue with the LAN Manager installation; if you choose NO then later decide to install LAN Manager, you must run Setup from the OS/2 setup diskette. Doing this, you may encounter a message stating that "an error was encountered while determining file type HPFS or FAT of your active disk drive." If you do, the computer hangs before you get to the LAN Manager Setup screen. CAUSE
This error message may be issued for several reasons, three of which are
not obvious and often are not considered when troubleshooting:
RESOLUTION
Check the SCSI drive train for evidences of the first two conditions.
