Trap Errors with NEC Powermate Global Cache tokenring NIC

SYMPTOMS

If you have a NEC Powermate 486 EISA Tower with global cache turned on along with a madge 32 bit tokenring card other than model # 5208 part number series 95XXX. The system will trap.

CAUSE

There is a CMOS setting on the NEC called global cache.

WORKAROUND

Turn the GLOBAL CACHE off or use the MADGE tokenring card model # 5208, part number series 95XXX.
