Some Remote Host Connections Impossible Running DLLNDIS

The information in this article applies to:

Microsoft LAN Manager, version 2.1a

SYMPTOMS

With DECnet drivers (DRP and NSP) installed on LAN Manager 2.1a with MSDLC protocol, running DLLNDIS makes it impossible to connect to IBM hosts by means of Extra for Windows or with VAX machines by means of DECnet.

CAUSE

The DECnet stack is not on LANA 0.

RESOLUTION

Set DECnet to LANA 0 and set MSDLC to LANA 1.

Note: Connection is possible if you run Extra without DLLNDIS (from Pathworks 4.01a).
