SYMPTOMSThe Microsoft Exchange Message Transfer Agent (MTA) might continuously attempt to initiate a RAS connection after a communications error. The MTA might fail to wait the full time out period as defined in the Open Interval value. CAUSEThis is caused by the way that the MTA responds to certain RAS error conditions. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server version 4.0. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Exchange Server 4.0 U.S. Service Pack 2.
