XADM: Cannot Reinstall on a BDC Using a Domain Service Account

SYMPTOMS

When you reinstall Microsoft Exchange Server on a Windows NT Backup Domain Controller (BDC) using a Windows NT domain account as the Microsoft Exchange Server Service Account, you might receive the following error:

No mapping between account and security ID.

This is due to a problem in validating the service account.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server version 4.0. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Exchange Server 4.0 U.S. Service Pack 2. For information on obtaining the service pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
