XFOR: Exchange IMC Not Consistent in Handling Importance

SYMPTOMS

Administrators of the Microsoft Exchange Server Internet Mail Connector (IMC) will find message importance levels are mishandled under specific circumstances.

CAUSE

The problem occurs when delivery notices (DNs) and read notices (RNs) are included with messages sent to Exchange Server users over the IMC.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server version 4.0 for Windows NT.

MORE INFORMATION

The non-delivery report comes back with no exclamation point and the non-read notification comes back with the exclamation point.
