SYMPTOMS
When you try to access an Exchange Server version 5.5 computer using
Outlook Web Access (OWA), you may see some of the following symptoms:
CAUSEWhen the Deleted Items folder is emptied, a buffer is created that is too small in some circumstances. This causes the end of the buffer to be overwritten by data, causing corruption of the memory that follows. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook Web Access version 5.5. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5. A common problem in application development can be heap corruption. This
typically occurs when an application allocates a block of heap memory of a
given size and then writes to memory addresses beyond the requested size of
the heap block. Another common cause of heap corruption is writing to a
block of memory that has already been used.
