SYMPTOMSWhen you install Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 into a cluster environment, you may receive the following error message:
CAUSE
The Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 Setup routine is hard-coded to look for
cluster resources of the following types: "IP Address," "Network Name," and
"Physical Disk."
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange Server 5.5. For additional information, please see the following article in the
Microsoft Knowledge Base: Q191014 XGEN: How to Obtain the Latest Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes: Component: Setup
This hotfix has been posted to the following Internet location as Setfixi.exe: ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/exchange/exchange-public/fixes/Eng/Exchg5.5/PostRTM/Cluster-fix/Because this fix is in Setup.exe, you must perform the following procedure to apply the fix:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 3. MORE INFORMATION
If a resource type is not of type "Physical Disk," the fix will get the
resource class information to find out whether it is a shared storage type.
