SYMPTOMSMicrosoft Exchange Server 5.5 does not deliver the non-delivery report (NDR) to the original recipient if a message encounters a message size limit on another server's message transfer agent (MTA) in certain circumstances. CAUSEThe receiving server will generate a NDR for the message and send the report to the sending server, which will attempt to reroute the message after triggering the routing restricted value, eventually failing, and is then unable to complete delivery. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange Server version 5.5. For additional information, please see the following article in the
