SYMPTOMSThe message transfer agent (MTA) stops with a database server internal processing error. Before the MTA stops, it issues the following event in the Ev0.log:
The element address and offset in the event may vary, but the thread in question is always RTSE. CAUSEThe MTA stopped because it had received a truncated checkpoint on this association from the peer MTA, and this error was treated as unrecoverable. RESOLUTIONExchange Server 5.0A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.0 service pack that contains this fix.To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the fix.
