XADM: Error -1201 When Running Eseutil /d

• Microsoft Exchange Server, version 5.5

SYMPTOMS

When you run Eseutil /d /database /tdrive:\eseutil, you get the following error message:

Operation terminated with error -1201 (JET_errDatabaseDuplicate, Database already exists).

CAUSE

A folder called Eseutil has been created on the mapped drive which is listed after the /t.

WORKAROUND

• Remove the directory from the mapped drive.

• Add any extension to the directory name.

• Specify another name for the location of the temporary directory. For example,

  eseutil /d /database /tdrive:\any name

MORE INFORMATION

Normally, the -1201 JET_errDatabaseDuplicate error indicates corruption in the database, but in this situation, the error will occur on a non-corrupted database.
