XFOR: Exchange.box May Become Corrupted during F/B Query

ID: Q199207

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Exchange Server, version 5.5

SYMPTOMS

The Exchange.box file may become corrupt during free and busy queries from Lotus Notes for Exchange Server users. This will occur when multiple Notes users query the same Exchange Server users in the same time frame.

WORKAROUND

The easiest way to fix this is to delete the Exchange.box file, then stop and restart the Exchange Notes Connector service.

  1. Stop both the Exchange Notes Connector and Calendar Connector services.

  2. Delete the Exchange.box file. This file will reside on the target Notes server, generally under the Notes\Data directory.

  3. Start the Exchange Notes Connector; this will automatically recreate the Exchange.box file.

  4. Then start the Calendar Connector service to resume normal free and busy operation between Exchange Server and Lotus Notes.

STATUS

The third-party products discussed here are manufactured by vendors independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding these products' performance or reliability.

MORE INFORMATION

Exchange.box is shared by both the Exchange Notes Connector and the Calendar Connector - Notes component. Thus any corruption to this file might result in a backlog of mail and free and busy results.
