XFOR: Internet Mail Service Access Violation When Sending Mail Over an SSL Session to a Remote System

SYMPTOMS

The Internet Mail Service may access violate when sending mail with a large number of recipients over a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) session to a remote system. A Dr. Watson log may be generated with a failing call stack similar to the following:

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange Server version 5.5. For additional information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5. This problem was first corrected in Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 3.
