XADM: Security Handle Not Released After LDAP Bind and Disconnect

SYMPTOMS

If you connect to an Exchange Server computer using the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) with Windows NT Challenge/Response (NTLM) as the authentication method, bind to the server, and then disconnect from the server before unbinding, the server may not release the associated security context handle.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange Server version 5.5. For additional information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5. This problem was first corrected in Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 3.
