XFOR: Exchange Server Migration Does Not Work on Large Lotus Notes Mailbox

SYMPTOMS

Customers using the Microsoft Exchange migration utility for Lotus Notes may report an incomplete migration with large Notes mailboxes. Although the migration utility reports it finished successfully, the statistics of migrated data are not equal to the initial data. Customers have reported this occurring with either one-step or two-step migration.

For example, a customer with 7,000 messages may find statistics reporting success with only 3,500 messages migrated.

WORKAROUND

Customers have reported success in using the Microsoft Importer for Lotus Notes Mail. This tool is available for download at:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Exchange Server version 5.5 for Service Packs 1 and 2.
