SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Outlook 97, 98, and 2000, the following dates are confirmed to be incorrect:
- United States: Memorial Day, 1999, is incorrectly listed as May 24, 1999, instead of May 31, 1999.

- United Kingdom: Late Summer Holiday, 1999, is incorrectly listed as August 23, 1999, instead of August 30, 1999.
CAUSE
The Outlook.txt file has the incorrect day for these holidays.
RESOLUTION
To correct this problem, use the appropriate method for your situation.
To Correct the Date Before Adding Holidays To Your Calendar
If the holidays have not been added to the Outlook Calendar, edit the Outlook.txt file to correct the date, and then re-import the country holidays. To do this:
- Click Start, point to Find, and click Files And Folders.
- In the Named box, type Outlook.txt. Ensure that the Look In box has the entire hard disk selected, and then click Find Now.
- Double-click the Outlook.txt file in the list of found files. If you receive a message that the file is too large for Notepad, click Yes to open the file in WordPad. Otherwise allow the file to open in Notepad.
- Scroll down to the Country section, and change the incorrect holiday to reflect the correct date, for example:
[United Kingdom]
Change: "Spring Bank Holiday, 1999/05/24" to "Spring Bank Holiday, 1999/05/31" (without the quotation marks).
- On the File menu, click Save As, and save the file as a text-only document.
- On the File menu, click Exit to close Notepad or WordPad.
To Import the Corrected Holiday List
- Start Outlook.
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the Preferences tab, click Calendar Options.
- Under Calendar Options, click Add Holidays, and click to select the country check box.
- Click OK three times to close all dialog boxes.
To Correct the Date After Adding Holidays
If you have already added the holidays to the Outlook Calendar, follow these steps to adjust the incorrect date:
- Click the Calendar folder for which you want to adjust the holiday.
- Navigate to the incorrect date.
- Double-click the holiday all-day appointment to open it.
- Change both the Start Time and End Time to the correct date (see above), and click the Save And Close button on the toolbar.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed
at the beginning of this article.
