SYMPTOMSThe Microsoft Exchange Server information store may end unexpectedly (crash) while processing inbound Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) messages. CAUSEWhile processing attachments contained within another message, the running thread overwrites its stack by 1 byte. Ultimately, a false (overwritten) address is used as a return address, causing Store.exe to violate access. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange Server version 5.5. For additional information, please see the following article in the
