XADM: How to Monitor Mailbox Storage Limits in Event Viewer

SUMMARY

If you want to see events in the Event Viewer application log when mailboxes reach the various stages of storage limit warnings, follow the steps in the "More Information" section. These steps assume that storage limits have already been set for mailboxes and that you have Administrator privileges.

1. Start the Exchange Server Administrator program.



2. Click the Configuration object, then double-click the Information Store Site Configuration object to bring up its properties.



3. Click the Storage Warnings tab. By default, the schedule is set to Once a day. Change this setting to Always, or to whatever setting you want. When Storage Warnings is set to Always, the information tore checks approximately every 15 minutes for storage limits.



4. Close the Information Store Site Configuration page.



5. Under the Servers object, click the Exchange Server computer you want, and on the File menu, click Properties to bring up the properties page for that server.



6. Click the Diagnostics Logging tab, open MSExchangeIS, and then click Private.



7. Click Storage Limits, and set Logging to Maximum.



8. Click the Apply or OK button to apply the logging setting.
