XADM: Store.exe Crashes Converting Transport-Neutral Encapsulation Format Data

ID: Q243769

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Exchange Server, versions 5.5, 5.5 SP3

SYMPTOMS

An access violation may occur if the Exchange Server information store service processes incoming Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) messages that contain a transport-neutral encapsulation format (TNEF) body part.

CAUSE

When the information store processes an incoming message that contains a TNEF body part and converts the message, the TNEF body part properties may contain binary data rather than Unicode.

The Store.exe file for the fix is modified to provide additional application programming interface (API) support. When you apply the fix, it automatically upgrades the information store.
