XCLN: E-mail Does Not Display ".doc" or "Document" when Using Word as Editor

SUMMARY

When you compose, forward, or reply to e-mail with Microsoft Word as the e-mail editor, Word displays "HTML," "Plain Text," or "Rich Text" in the title bar. Normally, when Word is opened, either the file name of the document being edited or "Document 1" is displayed in the title bar.

Expect the following behavior when composing, replying to, or forwarding an e-mail message with Word as e-mail editor, based on the version of Outlook installed:

  • Outlook 97: Word displays "Message Title" - Message


  • Outlook 98: Word displays "Message Title" - Message (Rich Text)


  • Outlook 2000: Word displays "Message Title" - Message (HTML, Plain Text, or Rich Text depending on format specified)
