SUMMARYIn Outlook, if the Contacts folder is set to receive personal addresses, then a user cannot add an address to the Personal Address Book (PAB). MORE INFORMATION
A user's MAPI profile can have an Outlook Address Book and a Personal Address Book in it. The PAB resides on the computer and must be accessed there, while the Contacts folder can be accessed from anywhere because is part of the mailbox,. Once the MAPI profile is configured with the Outlook Address Book and PAB services, the user can choose where personal addresses are kept.
This is to encourage users to use the Contacts folder rather than the PAB, since the PAB is specific to the computer where it is created. NOTE: In Outlook 97 and Outlook 98, the user cannot add addresses to the Contacts folder even when it is in the profile as an Outlook Address Book. Personal addresses can only be added to the PAB.
