SYMPTOMSWhen you are using the FILE() function in FoxPro for Macintosh and the length of the filename is greater than 27 characters and contains no periods, the return value is FALSE (.F.) even though the file exists.
RESOLUTIONEnsure that filenames are less than 27 characters or contains a period somewhere in the filename before checking for the file's existence.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in FoxPro version 2.5b for Macintosh. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
