PRB: Localized Versions of Internet Explorer Do Not Ship w/ VFP

The information in this article applies to:

Microsoft Visual FoxPro for Windows, version 6.0

SYMPTOMS

It is not uncommon for a developer to install the US English version of Visual FoxPro on a localized version of Windows. When installing the US English version of Visual FoxPro 6.0 on a localized version of Windows, the US English version of Internet Explorer is installed. Certain portions of the Windows Desktop Update do not function properly with this configuration.

CAUSE

Visual FoxPro 6.0 only ships with the version of Internet Explorer for the specific locale of the Visual FoxPro SKU.

RESOLUTION

You can download and install the correct localized version of Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1 from the following Web address:

http://www.microsoft.com/ie/download/windows.htm

You should download and install the localized version of Internet Explorer prior to installing Visual FoxPro 6.0.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

Install a localized version of Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0.

Install the US English version of Visual FoxPro 6.0.

Note that the US English version of Internet Explorer is installed.
