ID: Q183593

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows CE Services versions 2.0, 2.1
  • Microsoft Windows CE for the Handheld PC

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to convert a Microsoft Office document to Handheld PC (H/PC) format, you may receive one of the following error messages:

Unable to load graphics conversion filter. Cannot convert file <filename>. Continue with conversion?
-or-
Slide Export: Sorry, PowerPoint could not export the slides(s) because no installed converter supports this file type.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Office text converters and graphic filters are not installed on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the Office converters and filters. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Insert the Office CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. If you are using a specific Office product such as Microsoft Word, insert that program's CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.

  2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

  3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.

  4. Double-click Microsoft Office. If you are using a specific Office program and have not installed the Office suite, double-click the Office program you used to create the document you are attempting to convert. For example, double-click Microsoft Word.

  5. Click Add/Remove.

  6. Click Converters And Filters, and then click Change Option.

  7. Click the Text Converters check box to select it, and then click the Graphics Filters check box to select it. If these check boxes contain check marks but are dimmed, some of the converters and filters are not installed. It may be necessary for you to install additional converters and filters.
